About Dr. Tony Farina, PT, MS, CSCS
Founder of Impact Performance Therapy
Dr. Tony Farina is a leading sports physical therapist serving the Columbus, Ohio area who helps athletes and active adults get back to the sports and workouts they love.
His interest in physical therapy began as a youth athlete and evolved even greater during his career as a strength and conditioning coach. As a strength and conditioning coach, he was able to help athletes train AROUND an injury but wanted to develop his skills to be able to DIRECTLY TREAT an injury.
After becoming a PT, he worked in local physical therapy clinics where he was required to see multiple patients at the same time and only allowed 15 minutes with each patient before sending them off to do 45 minutes exercises of exercise by themselves.
Many times he witnessed patients having to come to TWICE as many physical therapy visits than it should have taken to reach their goals.
Dr. Farina decided he couldn't watch patients slow down their recovery time in large physical therapy "factories". Out of frustration with the way his patients were being treated, he founded Impact Performance Therapy. Athletes and every day people in Columbus, OH consult Dr. Farina looking for ways to get back to their active lifestyles faster.
Dr. Farina graduated with a B.S. in Human Nutrition from The Ohio State University, and then completed his M.S. in Exercise Science with a focus on Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania. Wanting to advance his development even further, he completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.
Dr. Farina is recognized as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
